World Premiere
Rebecca Burgess moves into a brownstone, renovates it, and simultaneously refuses to embrace her neighbors down the hall or street. In all her gentrifying glory, Rebecca is just living her life when weird, supernatural stuff starts happening, for no reason she can think of. Of course, the fact that she can’t think of the reason is probably why it’s happening.
“You know that point in a movie when something scary is about to happen and you can’t help it, you shut your eyes tight, both excited and terrified for what will come next? That’s a hard effect to achieve in a play where wide-eyed closeups and quick edits aren’t an option, but in Whitelisted, a world premiere now playing at the Contemporary American Theater Festival, playwright Chisa Hutchinson and director Kristin Horton achieve that same heart-pounding sense of dread and anticipation.” DC Theater Arts
"Whitelisted is the keystone of this year’s festival.” Chisa Hutchinson’s Brilliance on Display in Contemporary American Theater Festival’s WHITELISTED, Broadway World
